Do You Know Me Maria
Lyrics by Rod McKuen
Do you know me Maria
I was the one in the window who smiled
I was caught in the crowds eye, and held in yours for a while
Chorus:
Then the sun went down
and the sun came up
we spoken once in silence
that should of been enough
Do you know me Maria
I was the one in the doorway who laughed
I was the one running after you
for more than a mile and a half
Do you know me Maria
I was the one in the distance who cried
I was left all alone by the highway
and the highway is empty and its wide

Oversight
by Derek Gavey
In the morning, in the evening and in the afternoon
I'm thinking red thoughts, I'm dreaming green ones I'm making my self blue
We fall in line, in line we fall, every time.
Hey mister dealer, deal me a good hand it's almost closing time.
I played my hands well but in the end it's fate that rolls that die.
In god we trust, we trust in god, too much.
Chorus:
So many nights I've lost my mind, intentions only to unwind, so take my hand and lead me home.
Tuck me in and kiss goodnight, forgive me for me dim(pale)(weak) eye sight, you see I'm blind and need your over sight.
I've teased the devil, I've praised the pastor, I've suffered through my sin
I've lost my conscience, please help me find it, or just pass me some gin
So drink for me, I'll drink till you depart. (escape)
So raise your drink, your drinks are raised in vain.
In the morning, in the evening and in the afternoon
I'm thinking red thoughts, I'm dreaming green ones I'm making my self blue
I've crossed the line, our lines are crossed…

Restless Wind

Restless Wind
Just another sleepless night, listening to the drunks outside as they make their way back home
Something bout this cityscape always keeping we awake in it's sodium after glow
I wish I was a country boy where the only background noise are the coyotes singing out
Chorus:
The Shadows the shapes, the silent hearts break as the skyline it fades into the night
There used to be plains but now all that remains, is this western wind
This restless western wind.
You drew me into your front door, with promises of jobs and more, but your kisses smother me.
I'm gonna make my great escape leave behind the plans I made and just drive myself to sleep
I take another look outside into another waning night and the glow of the coming day
The Shadows the shapes, the silent hearts break as the skyline it fades into the night
There used to be plains but now all that remains, is this western wind
This restless western wind.
The city wakes from broken sleep, as sunny finger slowly creep up the trunks of the concrete trees.
There's something in her subtle sway as she wakes to sunny days and I know I can never leave
Just another sleepless night, watching all the folks outside as they greet the coming day.
The Shadows the shapes, the silent hearts break as the skyline it fades into the night
There used to be plains but now all that remains, is this western wind
This restless western wind.

Forget Me Not
by Derek Gavey
The tiny seeds of discontent
they grew each day to represent
a bitter life that had been spent
in absence of the sun
in absence of the sun
Who will stay and tend the weeds
he shouted at her summer dress
as it fluttered off his pleas
and strolled towards the sun
and strolled towards the sun
Chours
The Dandelions roared today
You morning glories on her way
as ivy begged her to stay
I'm sure you will forget me not
I'm sure you will forget me not
The humid haze of summers heat
did help her warm her stone cold feet
a waves did roll up from the street
she strolled towards the sun
she strolled towards the sun

Whisper Your Name

Whisper your name
by Derek Gavey
The empty trees want to hold you again.
They reach out their limbs and beckon you back
With withered old faces like little old men
They open their arms and whisper your name.
Chorus:
In the street they whisper your name
After dark they whisper your name
Over and over and over again
In the pouring rain they whisper your name
The Wind remembers teasing your hair
Brushing it gently out of your face
Kissing your neck with summers embrace
Now the wind just whispers your name
Chorus
In the street he whispers your name
After dark he whispers your name
Over and over and over again
In the pouring rain he whispers your name
I am the wind and I am the trees
And I am the warm in the summer breeze
But I don't whisper your name anymore
I shout it out with a thunder roar
Chorus:
In the street I shout out your name
After dark I shout out your name
Over and over and over again
In the pouring rain
I shout it out completely in vain
You may hear it some day,
when I whisper your name

Tomorrow
by Derek Gavey
There's always tomorrow, perhaps with no sorrow
maybe there's a way we can start over again.
There's always a next time, there's always more blue skies
I think there's a way we can find our love again.
Laying flowers on your door step
It's like a funeral for all my argument regrets
It's no that it's all bad, everything we had
I'm just grieving for everything that might have been.
There's always tomorrow, perhaps with no sorrow
maybe there's a way we can start over again.
There's always a next time, there's always more blue skies
I think there's a way we can find our love again.
Fighting cold wars in the bedroom,
nobody's talking, but they'll be no sleep here tonight.
Perhaps if we got mad, revealed the cards we have
Then our people could embrace again as they unite
with tears streaming down there face,
though I can paint that place,
but the wall still stands growing grey across the land
There's always tomorrow, perhaps with no sorrow
maybe there's a way we can start over again.
There's always a next time, there's always more blue skies
I think there's a way we can find our love again.
I know there's a way we can find our love again.
